Snorkeling

There is a bit of discussion in there about transportion from the airport to the
condo. I do have driving instruction in there. You may need a good map and I am assuming you will get one when you rent a car. Have you made plan for that? I am not sure what kind of vacation you are planning (luxurious - middle of the road -or budget?) but if you are on a budget you can try "Word of Mouth" car rental.
They are not located at the airport - but near it and they pick you up when you
call from the airport. They have older cars you can rent from them for a good
discount. There is other information in my letter about Speedi Shuttle.

I highly reccommend a travel book for Maui called "Maui Revealed". I keep a room copy for guests in my unit. I also have a Fodors in there and book you will want to look at called "Snorkel Maui".
My personal recommendation for snorkeling are Honolua Bay and Slaughterhouse Bay which is  about 3 to 4 miles north of Napili Bay on Upper Honoapiilani Hwy. The book will tell you where it is. This is excellent snorkeling. I also recommend Black rock in front of the Sheratin Hotel in Kaanapali.
There are some other places in south Maui (Wailea) that I've heard are very good (La Peruse and the fish bowl) but they are about an 45min to an hour from the condo and I have no personal information about them. You probably want to read about them to. In the condo also have a snorkel guide by Snorkel Bob's. It is nice to read his recommendations for snorkelig also. Within 1/2 block of the condo is a Snorkel Bob's where you can rent snorkel gear. (just ask the resident Manager -Lee - to point it out for you).

>My personal opinion would be to steer away from snorkel boat trips. All the one I am aware of actually go to spots where you can drive to anyway. When you go to Honolua Bay and enter the water at the shore you will swim out a bit and run into people who got there by a "Snorkel Boat". Unless you want the experience of actually boating, and having the crew barbeque a lunch etc. - then you might choose to just experience. - The one exception to this is a trip out to the crater "molokini". You can't get there by car as it is a tiny crater about sea water about 1 or 2 miles off shore. I did that trip once - and I didn't think that the snorkeling was that good.
If you want to just experience a boat trip (stay away from the dinner cruises!) I
have heard very good things about "Trilogy's" (808-661-4743)trip to Lanai. That
trip I might consider doing. Because you get to see another island - you can't
drive to Lanai. One thing I don't like about Trilogy is that they make you wear
flotation devices in the water (even if you are a very good swimmer) and they
don't serve alcohol (other operators serve beer). It's up to you!!

You could also take the Lanai express ferry to Lanai for one day from the Lahaina Harbor (808-661-3756) to Lanai. You can come back the same after seeing the most wonderful beach over there (or once there you can rent a jeep and explore theisland).

I am not familiar with zip line tours but my guests have said that Skyline Eco-Adventures run one on the slopes of Haleakala. There number is 808-878-8400.

Also for a luau I would recommend the Feast at LeLe. You usually need reservations a couple weeks in advance. There number is 808-667-5353. It is pricey - but in my opinion worth it. The best show on Maui is Warren and Annabelle - it is in Lahaina and needs to be booked in advance also (It is a magic show).

If you have more questions please just ask. I get lot's of information from my guests - and I'm happy to share with everyone who stays with me. Also you will find a lot of books to help you in my condo!
